Hi,

Working with EG4.1 I have accumulated too many files under the folder '9.1' (I have EG in my PC). I suspect that many of these files are not actually now useful (for example those which were created during testing or during query which were later deleted, but output files seem to stay there ). There is one file with extension of *.LCK occupying 39GB for example!

My question is, is there a way to recognise files so that one would know which one to keep and which to delete? It would be very useful to create more space in computer!

Many Thanks!

Hi,

The LCK-file seems to be a file which is used during processing data-steps and/or procedures. It looks like a temporary file. We delete them whenever they remain after closing all SAS EG-windows. In your case: 39 Gb extra free space would be nice... 🙂

Query-files or other files that are created because of using SAS EG menu items (for instance: frequency counts etc.) are named qury####, freq####, mean####, etc. where #### is a 4-digit random number. We delete them after 14 days.

Hopefully this helps... 🙂
