Hi, something that has annoyed me for some time, - I finally get to ask the question:

When working in SAS EG (6.1) and a dataset is created and OPENED (often manually by me) the width of the data columns seems to always be default. I often have several variables, dislayed as colums, that are integers between for instance 1 and 99. I would like the width of the displayed column to retain this format so that many more columns can be shown.

So, if this is possible, a hint would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Poul R S

Hi there,

I'm using SAS EG 7.1 so I am unsure if my suggestion will be useful...

After you load your data set, use the import wizard to modify. Select the field you want to change and click modify. Once in there, you should be able to change the length of your field...make sure to change the number in your source informat.

Hope that helps!

@tessa_h, I think that @PoulRavn is talking about the layout in the view data window, not the variable lengths and formats on the data set.
And, unfortunately I haven't seen such a feature yet. One would wish for something similar to the old good wsave in DMS SAS...
