Hi,

I want to be able to import an Excel File where in users are PROMPTED to choose the file from network/local machine.  Is there a way to do it in SAS Enterprise Guide ?

Thanks,

Varun

Hi!

You can do it by creating a file prompt and then a user written importer that uses the prompt value to select the file.

I don't think you can do it by just using standard transformations...

To make it easier you can import one file and then copy the code to your user written 🙂

Thank you for your response.

If you want to use filenames in a user selection prompt, the following needs to be done:

  • the location must be "visible" to the workspace server SAS process
  • a dataset that will contain filenames has to be registered in SAS metadata
  • a step before the prompt becomes active has to populate the dataset with the current filenames

Once all that is there, you can define a dynamic list prompt from the dataset.
