For typical SAS programmer: use base SAS, SAS/STAT, JMP or SAS enterprise guide if I want to use GUI to point-and-click to get the results? Actually anyone knows the different usage of JMP and SAS enterprise guide?

JMP is NOT a GUI for SAS.  It is a totally separate product.  One can transfer data back and forth, but the JMP commands cannot be run as SAS programs elsewhere.

EGuide is, in my opinion, a better GUI for SAS analysts than the base SAS one.  In addition to the addition of point-and-click to set up analyses, the editor supports syntax completion.

It's not all roses, however.  If you have SAS analyses that run for a long time, you have to stay connected while it runs.  We have some reports that run for several days and the old batch interface is better for that.  (You could export your generated code and run it in batch, but that is another sort of pain.).  Similarly, for power users doing ETL, the editor is not as powerful as EMACS or some other products.

I tend to use both.  I'll use EGuide for smaller projects or as a prototyping tool in combination with batch processing for the big jobs.
