I recently got a new laptop. I have always used F3 to run a selection of code, and it worked perfectly.  I am using EG 7.1 on a remote desktop, and since I got the new laptop, the F3 function is disabled.

I know it must be something to do with the new laptop, because nothing has changed with my EG on the remote PC.

Is there something I can do to get my F3 shortcut back?

Hello @Gerbus and welcome to the SAS Support Communities!

First, I would check if the F3 key works in other programs, e.g., the Windows Explorer (where it displays search options [at least in Windows 7]) or Notepad (where it opens the Find dialog or repeats a previous search).

If it does, I'd check potential issues within SAS Enterprise Guide, e.g., possible conflicts with Enhanced Editor Keys (open Program --> Enhanced Editor Keys..., click the "Assign keys..." button, click into the "Press new shortcut key" field, press F3 just to confirm that SAS displays "Currently assigned to: None", leave the opened dialog windows with Cancel, Close).

Otherwise, i.e., if F3 does not work in other programs, but has a laptop-specific function (show battery status or whatever), your BIOS or utilities that came with your laptop should allow you to modify the F3 key behavior.

Not sure if the AutoHotkey tool mentioned in Chris Hemedinger's blog can be of any help in your case. (I don't use SAS EG.)
