We received notification that an update to EG was available and several of our users accepted the update and now some of them are losing the display of the Process Flow in the process flow window.  This is happening intermittently to one group of users (PA) .  Others are not reporting any issues after accepting the upgrade.

For the PA group they will open the same project three times and once it will show the project in the Process Flow window.  No rhyme or reason to the frequency.  One unique feature that distinguishes  them from others in the company is that they all run 32 bit SAS on 64 bit machines where most everyone else is running 32 bit 32 bit.  The version that they updated to is:

7.15 HF4 (7.100.5.6158) (32-bit)

Any ideas on how to address this?

EG 7.15 HF4 has been pulled from the website (and from EG's Check for Updates) due to this issue that was identified.  We are working on a fix.  In the meantime, if you have already installed 7.15 HF4, we recommend rolling back the HF4 hot fix via these steps:

  1. Launch the Control Panel.
  2. Go to Programs and Features
  3. Select View installed updates
  4. Scroll down to SAS Enterprise Guide 7.1
  5. Right click on the update (HF4) and select Uninstall.

Or, if you installed EG 7.15 HF4 via the SAS Deployment Wizard, EG 7.15 may not appear in Add/Remove Programs, and you'll need to uninstall the HF4 update via these steps:

  1. Open regedit.exe.
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\SAS Institute Inc.\Enterprise Guide\7.1 for 32-bit EG or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAS Institute Inc.\Enterprise Guide\7.1 for 64-bit EG.
  3. Confirm the PatchLevel value is "7.15 HF4 (7.100.5.6158)".
  4. If so, copy the value in PatchRemove (ex. "Msiexec /I {ECBCED4C-7797-4FF6-B725-E5F5837498A8} MSIPATCHREMOVE={c9db5535-fbf2-49af-a6f1-317e6b93b7cd} /qn").
  5. Open a Windows Command Prompt as an administrator.
  6. Paste the msiexec command in the command prompt and run it.

After following one of the sets of steps above, re-open EG, click Help->About and confirm you no longer have the 7.15 HF4 update installed (ex. you should be left with 7.15 HF3, 7.15 HF2, 7.15 HF1, or 7.15 with no hotfix, depending on which you had prior to installing HF4).

Casey, is this limited to 64 Bit machines or are all impacted.  I have not had a user not on 64 complain about this.

Any ETA on the next upgrade?

We don't believe it is specific to the bitness of the machine.  If you aren't experiencing problems, it is fine to leave HF4 on the machine.

Early evidence suggests it is related to the Windows Search Indexing service interfering (holding a lock) on some of our files.  For example, disabling the "Windows Search" service appears to workaround the issue.  So, for folks experiencing problems, you could either try that, or rollback the HF4 update.

We will release an HF5 update as soon as we have confidently resolved this issue.

Thank you Casey for information. Resolved for me. For what it's worth - HP ZBook which has hit some specific issues before related to the touch screen drivers and EG.
