Hi Everyone,

I have little weird problem with SAS EG7.1 that exactly same query using same data takes takes more than an hour or sometime takes forever for one user and runs in 30 second for other users. It does open/import data taking same time though. Problem starts when query submitted. Data size is 1.8 million rows with 100 columns.

Our setup is Windows12-Virtual SAS servers (Metadata & SASApp) and 10 virtual-Desktop-users (EG7.1) submitting query/programs to SASApp server.  All users have same setup on SAS_Management_Console and Active Directory.

Please reply with any idea why it's behaving differently for two different users, particularly only one user has this problem and rest 9-users are OK.

Thank you

Hitesh Bhatt

What does the SAS log for the slow user report? Compare the SAS log real time and CPU time with the fast users. What does it report?

Evidence like this is necessary to narrow down where the problem lies.

Hi mate,

Some times SAS Locks the tables that are being used by more than one person,

And if you are in a Grid enviroment some users might have special permissions

to run in a SAS Server Queue before other users.

This trouble could be loads of things, for whose users that processes are running

faster or lower, users whose process ends before another. check the configuration

of SAS Server or in its SAS Session, might have some statement that makes the

process to run faster.
