I use Enterprise Guide 5.1 64-bit on Windows Enterprise 7 64-bit.

I tried installing the above (4.2/4.3 version) from here:

http://support.sas.com/documentation/onlinedoc/guide/customtasks/

And got the attached error message.

In general are all of the custom tasks compatible with 5.1 and 64-bit?

The task should be compatible with 5.1, but the .NET 4.0 runtime (which EG 5.1 uses) is a bit pickier about loading "foreign" assemblies.

As you downloaded this DLL from the web, you might need to "unblock" it as described here:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee890038.aspx

Most tasks designed to work with 4.3 will work with 5.1, no changes needed.

Michelle is referring to the EGP Search Tool, which uses the automation API, and is designed to point to a specific version/installation of EG.  That's why we need a special build for 5.1 (which is still on my to-do list!).

I suspect not... Chris Hemedinger wrote a blog post recently about his cool EG-Project-Search-Inator tool being only EG 4.3 compatible http://blogs.sas.com/content/sasdummy/2012/06/07/egp-search-tool/ and that he is working on a 5.1 version... I suspect that there has been some change to the APIs from EG 4.3 to 5.1 therefore the available custom tasks are not compatible/supported on 5.1

Hopefully your question may prompt someone to update the page, http://support.sas.com/documentation/onlinedoc/guide/customtasks/ with the support level for EG 5.1.

Chris,

After some experimentation unblocking the DLL and removing the read-only attribute finally got this working. It would be nice to have some additional functionality such as being able to view the format/informat source as is available in the DMS Explorer.

But this is certainly very useful as it is, thanks!

Glad it works for you.  I've heard the request about Formats many times, and I do intend to look at adding it.  Just need a bit of time...
