Hi. I am just learning about Enterprise Guide and I came across the concept of "prompts" to gather user input for programs. Is it possible to use this prompt facility to create forms for user input? We have an old application written in SAS/AF with SCL to create a series of data input screens. If it is possible to build a front end using prompts, is there any sample code available demonstrating the use of prompts in this way?

Thanks.

I'm not sure that I'd use them for a data entry application, but for gathering a few values and options they're great. I've just started using them, but I think they'll be really useful.

I found this paper very helpful:

Thanks Tom. It seems I will have to look into other alternatives. Prompts are probably worth learning for other situations though.

This may be more advanced than you are wanting, but you can create a custom front-end by building a custom add-in task using C# or VB.NET and registering it in EG. Examples and documentation (applies to version 4.2 and 4.3 also):
