We were recently working with SAS Tech. Support to get our "SAS Connect Spawner" service up and running.  We managed to install and start the service but, now we're finding the we cannot make a connection through our SAS EG to our z/OS platform. I can't say for sure that this problem is related to the install and execution of the "SAS Connect Spawner" service but, after the service was installed and started, we noticed that our SAS EG programs all had the same error message:

NOTE: Remote signon to HAL commencing (SAS Release 9.04.01M2P072314).

ERROR: A communication subsystem partner link setup request failure has occurred.

ERROR: The connection was refused.

ERROR: Remote signon to HAL canceled.

We greatly appreciate any suggestions or recommendations that you can provide.

Thank you.

Hi SASKiwi,

Thank you very much for addressing our post.

The explanation behind the error message makes sense. I will take this discussion to our SAS admin. team.

Thank you,

Darryl

I'm getting the same error when trying to connect from SAS to Z/os mainframe.  When I use the IP everything works, but when I use the Name I get ERROR: A communication subsystem partner link setup request failure has occurred.
ERROR: The connection has timed out.

ERROR: Attempt to connect to server XXXXB failed.
ERROR: A communication subsystem partner link setup request failure has occurred.
ERROR: Cannot find TCP service 'XXXXb'.  They tell me that DNS has been updated.  Trying to figure out What or where I need to verify this or be able to test.  If DNS is updated and still getting basically a DNS error seems like it then what can I check next?

Any help would be appreciated..

@KAS25  - You've already asked this in a separate new post which is the right approach. FYI, multiple postings are generally discouraged.
