I'm a SAS user trying to get used to the EG interface and functionalities (version: 7.1 HF1 (7.100.0.2002) (64-bit)).

Everytime I have to save a project, program, log file, etc. the default option of the browser is to open the last location where you have saved something instead of the current working directory.

This makes me save some files in the wrong location and lose a lot of time searching for the right one in the rest of the cases.

Is there any way to change this to the current directory?

Thanks for your help!!

Hi emera86,

Unfortunately, that functionality does not exist for now.

EG will use as you noted the last location (that location is retrieved from the %appdata%\SAS\EnterpriseGuide\7.1\SaveDlg file for your information).

But the following request was made. In a future release, it's possible that you'll be able to tell EG to use the location of where you opened the file from.

For instance, if you open a project from C:\Temp (maybe not the best location Smiley LOL), add objects and use Save As..., it will use that C:\Temp location by default.

Cheers,
Damo

Thank you for the info!! I hope this future improvement comes soon, because it is causing us a lot of trouble (if you forget to check it and save it rightaway as you do in other programs) and time wasting (we have a very complex folder tree and it's annoying to look for the right location every time) 😞

As I was saying, thanks anyway!

We are planning to address this in the next EG release (unless there is some unforeseen challenge or risk, which I do not expect).

I completely agree, it is not currently behaving as one would expect.  Rather than the Save As dialog opening to the location where the last file was saved, it should always open to the location of the existing file (when there is an existing file).  Note: This applies to all files that can be "Saved As" from within EG (ex. .egp, .sas, .txt, etc.).
