Hi. I've moved from the US to Vietnam and now I couldn't access to the SAS EG data base to do my work. Basically, when I import the data from excel to SAS, I couldn't finish. I tried to test sever but it didn't work. Please help.ods but the problem has not solved. Please help.
Can you still see that server? You did not supply a fully qualified hostname, perhaps your default network address has changed from something like "company.com" to something like "vietnam.company.com" and you just need spell out the full hostname.
Hi Tom.
Thanks for the suggestion. However I am not good at technology. How can I check what my default network is and how to supply a qualified hostname. Pleas give me a detailed steps. Thanks.
You need to talk to whoever runs the SAS server that you are trying to connect to. Or if you have SAS installed on the PC that is running EG then it should be simple to connect to the local server. No need to know the hostname since it is the same machine.
Hi @LeoDang
In addition to the information provided by @Tom, do you know if you are using a local server (SAS Foundation is installed on the same machine as your SAS enterprise Guide instance) or a Metadata Server (SAS Enterprise Guide would connect to a Metadata Server, whether it's local or on a remote machine)?
Note: if you're using a Workstation, the Metadata Server would not be on that machine.
From the screenshots you provided, it seems you're trying to connect to a Metadata Server.
With such message, you have to ensure that the Metadata Server and the Object Spawner are started.
You have to check with your SAS administrator if both are true.
If others are able to connect to the server, check/compare their connection profile with yours.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Damo
Actually it is OLAP sever. I was a student in Ohio university and we use SAS to study econometrics as a program to analyze data. Now I went to Vietnam however I still need to use SAS. SAS is installed in my laptop as a requirement of my teacher.

Hi @LeoDang
Sorry can you clarify. you mentioned "OLAP server" but the screenshot is about importing an Excel file.
Can you expand the server (SASApp?) under the Servers listing (left bottom corner)?
Cheers,
Damo
