Hello,

Is there a way to automatically have the tables within a library refreshed? Or the only way is either to right click library-refresh

or to use the refresh button?

I don't think there is a way to do this, up to EG 6.1 at least. My guess is the overhead of automatically refreshing the server list each time a process flow or SAS program runs could be significant, so that might be a reason why it is not available.

is correct -- refreshing the data set list would have to invoke a query to the SAS server to fetch the list of tables.  In earlier versions of EG these queries did happen more often and it turned out that this caused far too much "chattiness" between the EG client and the SAS server.  So a user-initiated "refresh" offers a better balance of usability, performance, and good IT stewardship.

However, I just hope SAS EG could offer the option to refresh temporary data output from WORK folder for users. Users could choose to use this automatic refresh feature or not.
