While running an APPEND statement, I get an I/O error and the whole BASE data gets damaged.
I need help with the problem. Where am I going wrong, also is there a way I can atleast save BASE data?

I'd suggest that you contact tech support for this issue. You should also supply an example SAS program for what you're seeing.
