How does SAS Viya support multiple programming languages within the platform?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently exploring SAS Viya and was curious about how it integrates with programming languages outside of traditional SAS code.

I know that SAS Viya supports languages like Python, R, and Lua in different parts of the platform, but I’m interested in understanding how this works behind the scenes.

* How are these languages incorporated into SAS Viya?
* Are they executed through the same compute server as SAS programs, or do they run in separate environments?
* Is there any official documentation that explains the architecture or best practices for using multiple languages together in SAS Viya?

I’m trying to get a better understanding of how the platform enables interoperability between SAS and other languages before building some workflows around it.
