I have a few hundred variables. I want to ideally write some code to quickly assign roles and levels to my variables instead of using the GUI interface. Any advice is appreciated.

Easy to do with an Enterprise Miner code node.

I know the code node has an example on how to change the metadata of your variables. Look there !
