Does it make sense to create an ensemble model from several decision tree models? These decision tree models are created by different subsets of variables.

This makes sense. In fact, to some extent, this can describe a random forest.

In a random forest many decision tree models are formed, each of which is built using a random subset of the variables. There are a lot of subtleties behind a random forest, but the general idea of creating an ensemble model from several decision trees, each using a different subset of variables makes sense.
