Is it possible to carry out a remote function call to SAP (using SAS-Access to ODBC, but not SAS-Access to R/3) via a SQL-server, if one wanted to?

You can use execute(..) by odbc; to pass DBMS specific instructions.

Whether you can call SAP remote function from SQL Server is not a SAS question really, so to get answer on that you should perhaps ask a SAP/SQL server forum instead.
