I'm running SAS 9.4 under Parallels v9 on an iMac with Lion as the OS. I am trying to access a mysql database on a remote server. I can't get SAS to connect to the server.
1. SAS can access a mysql database set-up on a local server running in Parallels (set-up using WAMP). SO, the basic code is OK and SAS has the capability to access mysql.
2. I can access the remote mysql database from my iMac using SEQUEL PRO. So, I know that the configuration/IP address/Port is OK and that I have permission to get remote access to the database on the server.
3. SAS can access neither the mysql database on the remote server nor one which I set-up on my iMac using MAMP.
I have checked the ports and they are correct.
My SAS code is:
libname mysqll2 mysql
user=njb1
password=password
database=njb1
server='http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
port=3306
;
The error message that is posted in my log file is:
ERROR: Error trying to establish connection: Unknown MySQL server host 'http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx' (2)
ERROR: Error in the LIBNAME statement.
I've googled, and read the relevant SAS manuals but nothing seems to help.
Anyone been able to connect to a remote server in this situation?
Nick.
Take away the "http://" from the server name, this should help

Argh! Can't believe it was that simple. Thanks.
Thanks for jumping in with such a quick resolution, Bruno! Nbirkett, sometimes the small adjustments make a big difference in performance. Anna-Marie
