Hi everyone,

I am using a Linux version of SAS Enterprise Guide 5.1, remotely connected from a Win7 platform. How to access data files saved on the PC?

The following command doesn't work:

libname custfm pcfiles path="C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASEnterpriseGuide\5.1\Sample\Data\as_products.xls";

ANd the error message is like this:

311 libname custfm pcfiles path="C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASEnterpriseGuide\5.1\Sample\Data\as_products.xls";
ERROR: The SERVER= option is required for establishing a connection through the SAS/ACCESS Interface to PC Files.
ERROR: Error in the LIBNAME statement.

But I can't see any local server information from the Server list.

Thanks.

Your SAS code in EG is running on a remote Linux SAS server that is trying to reference your local PC drive via the SAS PC File Server. Where is the SAS PC File Server running? You need to identify the name of it on your LIBNAME statement.

An easier way to import Excel files in EG is via the File / Import Data menu option. Then you don't need to work through all of the setup stuff required for doing the same thing in SAS code.
