Question to convert the field type in Data Management Studio 2.4

Hi,

I am new to DM studio and I am trying to convert the field type to Character. My input field type is Number/double and I require the output field type as character. I have tried using expression by declaring the field type as string but it did not worked out well. Is there any solution to convert the field type?

Have you tried  "tostring"  function?  

string output

output = tostring(`NumberInputField`)
