Question on sas cleanwork utility

Can we trigger SAS cleanwork utility during peak hours?  Peak hours is when there are a lot of users with active sessions and some hang or orphaned sessions (force-terminated sessions).  Will it not affect like delete the folders of running/active sas sessions? 

We had an unsuccessful first run of sas cleanwork utility, our sas applications were down for more than a day.

My experiences with cleanwork are very positive. It's in the root crontab and runs hourly during work hours (which includes peak times). We never had a problem because of processes that had their WORK directories pulled away from under them.
