Golden Record

Hi everybody, I need to know what involves a Golden Record (GR) project or model, am I correct if I say GR is a statistical model? or is a technical model like a Database Administrarion? where can I find more info about this?

I think that the Golden (or Surviving) Record concept is targeted in the MDM solution.
