Hi Guys!

Earlier in 2017, Mr @RonAgresta, explains that there are 2 ways to solving the problem to estabilish ODBC Connections between SAS/Dataflux Data Management Server 2.6 and an Oracle 12c Server:

"...

a quick search of our technical support tracks suggested the following possible resolutions:

1. Add the following lines to sqlnet.ora file on the server:

  • SQLNET.ALLOWED_LOGON_VERSION_SERVER=8
  • SQLNET.ALLOWED_LOGON_VERSION_CLIENT=8
  • Then restart Oracle TNS Listener

or

2. Use "DataFlux Oracle Driver" instead of the "DataFlux Oracle Wire Protocol Driver
"

So, as Mr @JBailey suggests in another closed topic, we are creating ths post to know how to configure the second solution, creating a ODBC Connection using Dataflux Oracle Driver, instead of Wire Protocol Driver, in a SAS/Dataflux Data Management Server 2.6 Linux 64 bit plattaform,

- Is it necessary to install a new (12c or earlier) Orcale Client or a new Oracle ODBC Driver on this server?
- Which procedures we may use to do this?
- How to configure the new ODBC connections with this driver? Which parameters to use?
- Is it necessary to create listener entries on Oracle?

Thanks in advance for any info,

Luis Leite

Hi - some answers:

- Is it necessary to install a new (12c or earlier) Orcale Client or a new Oracle ODBC Driver on this server?

If you don't use the Wire Protocol driver, yes you need a client. What you install will depend on what Oracle server version you are running.
- Which procedures we may use to do this?

You'll need to use standard Oracle apps/components to do this. Usually Oracle clients are available for download from their site or can be found in your Oracle deployment.
- How to configure the new ODBC connections with this driver? Which parameters to use?

There's nothing special you have to do beyond normal steps to create that ODBC connection in the Linux driver manager. There is some documentation on this in the SAS/DataFlux user guide.
- Is it necessary to create listener entries on Oracle?

It depends on your configuration but usually you do need to do this. There is a lot of documentation on the ODBC drivers for the SAS/DataFlux software. Check that out and post back any questions you still have.
