Tell us how you are inspired by the work you do?
My name is Monika Wahi, and I am President of DethWench Professional Services, a public health education and consulting company. I want to nominate one of my customers, Daniel Wanjiru, for the SAS Curious Thinker award. I refer to Daniel as my SAS Superstar, because he has come so far with SAS in such a short time. Since he graduated with his biostatistics degree in 2017, he has mastered CDISC and ADaM standards in SAS.
How has SAS played a part in your journey?
SAS has been central to Daniel’s journey. He is a certified SAS programmer, and takes any opportunity to expand his knowledge in SAS. Daniel started with simpler SAS jobs, where he was doing data entry and data cleaning. As he gained skills with pharma data, he has progressed toward model building, and now he oversees implementation.
What products do you use and how do you use them?
Daniel’s work centers around efficient I/O in data steps and data cleaning. His expertise is in designing and troubleshooting macros and automation in SAS. He routinely advises others about how to build macros for automation that make repetitive routines in SAS easier.
What is your greatest lesson learned that you'd like to share with others?
Daniel has taught me that although there are many new tools available in data science, SAS still has the corner on the market with macros and big data automation. Daniel helps other SAS users explore the extensive functionality behind macro programming, and leverage it to our benefit.
