Segment Maps play a central role in the ability to create the perfect list of customers to contact, whether it is for up-sell/cross-sell, onboarding or launching a brand new product and wanting to share some good news. It has all the advanced segmentation capabilities you need, available through a simple-to-use, drag-and-drop visual interface.

After nearly a decade, we have decided it is time to dust off the paint cans and give Segment Maps a fresh new look and, sneak in some new features too!

Rollout Plan

Just like when you redecorate your living room, it helps to plan and take things step by step. In our case, we are tackling the work in phases.

The first phase includes 4 elements:

  1. A new node menu
  2. New node colours
  3. The ability to visually group nodes into node groups
  4. The option to align the placement of nodes

We are targeting a Release Preview rollout in November 2025 for tenants who opted in, and a General Availability rollout in January 2026.

Limited Availability Option

As we go full-steam into the 2025 holiday season, including Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and more, we have decided to only start the general rollout to production tenants early in January 2026. However, to get access to the items included in Phase 1 before the General Availability rollout starts, reach out to your Customer Success Manager to discuss your options.

This Limited Availability access will include all items in Phase 1. Each access request will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and requires an acceptance that SAS reserves the right to disable the new features if we encounter any last-minute issues.

Here are the new features in Phase 1:

1. New Node Menu

The node menu will now be organised into 3 categories, as shown below. Each category gets its own node colour, which is reflected in the segment map.

2. New Node Colours

Individual nodes inherit their colours from their node menu category. This gives Segment Maps a fresh new look and also lines up with other areas of SAS Customer Intelligence 360.

3. Node Groups

A new feature we are excited to have is the ability to group and collapse nodes into node groups. The node groups enabled you to simplify large segment maps, like when you have repeating logic or you just want to highlight that some nodes belong together.

Simply draw a lasso (left-click, hold, and drag) around the nodes you want to group, right-click on any of the selected nodes, and select Group.

4. Snap to Grid

Gone are the days where lining up your nodes was a chore. You will now be able to turn on Snap to grid in the overflow menu at the top right of your segment map, or by right-clicking anywhere on the map. This feature aligns the placement of your nodes in straight rows and columns. Welcome to the world of pixel-perfect alignment!

Summary

We are very excited to get these updates into our users’ hands over the next few weeks and we are always happy to get your feedback. But, we aren’t stopping there. We have several additional enhancements and new features waiting in the wings. Look out for these in future rollout phases as we go into the first half of 2026. Happy holidays!
