When trying to add a remote deployment environment (production run-time server), I get this error:

error.jpg

I already used the credentials as reflected on Management Console on the connection properties of the target server but can't seem to establish the connection. Am I missing out on anything?

The error is pretty self-explanatory, the connection can not be physically established.

It means either of the following:

  • There is nothing to connect to (SAS services on this machine are not running or not fully started / not started successfully, or SAS Web Server was configured to listen another port rather than 7980, or the machine name is wrong, or the port is closed on the OS level - iptables)

  • There is some network-level restriction (a firewall perhaps) that prevents your Design-Time environment (mid-tier) from connecting to the Remote Run-Time destination endpoint (sgbsasrtdmapp1:7980). If that's the case, this needs to be addressed by your network admins.

Normally you'd try to connect to this address (http://sgbsasrtdmapp1:7980) with your web browser and see what happens - if it opens or not.

This is, however, a routine technical issue that should be SAS Technical Support domain rather than a subject for community expertise exchange.

An analogy from the real world mail (snail mail) would be4 - the address you use to mail someone is incorrect, or that person is dead, or some third-party is preventing a mailman from reaching his address.
