As demand for data, analytics, and artificial intelligence skills continues to accelerate, higher education faces growing expectations to ensure graduates are prepared for an increasingly data‑driven world. SAS Educate AP was conceived to address this challenge by bringing together educators, industry leads, and SAS experts from across the Asia‑Pacific region to explore how analytics and AI education can evolve to meet future workforce needs.

Delivered as a virtual event, SAS Educate AP served as a regional extension of SAS’s global commitment to education, providing a dedicated forum for a higher education audience to explore emerging trends, practical teaching approaches, and applied learning models in analytics and AI.

Purpose and Vision

The primary purpose of SAS Educate AP was to support educators reflect on how to expand curriculum industry relevance and enhancing student employability. The event highlighted:

  • How higher education is being reshaped by AI
  • That there is a broader ongoing digital transformation
  • How human judgement, creativity and pedagogy remain central
  • That AI is no longer a future or elective topic, it is foundational across disciplines.
  • Industry expectations are evolving faster than traditional curricula
  • Employers expect graduates to understand AI concepts, how to interpret results, and apply to business decision making
  • Applied learning is framed as an ecosystem, not a single activity.
  • Industry relevance and employability are reinforced through certification, badging, and real‑world use cases

By bringing the community together, SAS Educate AP showcased how higher education can integrate analytics and AI into teaching in ways that reflect real‑world use cases, industry expectations, and applied learning outcomes.

Programme Content and Structure

SAS Educate AP was structured as a multi‑session virtual programme designed to balance strategic perspective, educator peer exchange, and practical classroom relevance. Sessions included presentations from SAS experts, panel discussions with educators and industry leads, and examples of how analytics education is being implemented across different institutions and disciplines.

Key content themes focus on:

  • Analytics and AI curriculum innovation, including how emerging technologies can be incorporated into existing courses.
  • Applied learning models, such as hackathons, competitions, industry projects, and capstone experiences.
  • Talent and skills development, highlighting pathways that align academic learning with industry demand.

These themes are consistent with the broader SAS Global Academic Programs approach, which supports teaching across all STEM programs and subjects.

Rather than positioning SAS Educate AP as a purely technical event, the programme emphasised pedagogy, curriculum design, and academic impact, recognising that many participants were seeking practical, adaptable ways to enhance learning outcomes for their students.

Value for Educators

SAS Educate AP delivered clear and tangible thought-provoking ideas. It offered exposure to current industry perspectives on analytics and AI, helping educators ensure programs remains relevant as technologies and skills expectations evolve.

The programme created opportunities for peer learning and collaboration. Educators were able to hear directly from fellow educators who are integrating analytics into their programs, providing relatable examples that can be adapted across institutions and disciplines.

Finally SAS Educate AP connected academic teaching with practical resources available through SAS, including access to free software, teaching materials, and educator portals that support curriculum development and classroom delivery.

Impact and Academic Engagement

A defining characteristic of SAS Educate AP was its strong engagement from the academic audience. Virtual delivery enabled participation from across the Asia‑Pacific region, creating a diverse and inclusive forum for discussion and exchange.

The quality of engagement, characterised by active discussion, thoughtful questioning, and shared experiences, reinforced the value of providing a regional event tailored to academic needs. By focusing on practical relevance rather than product‑centric messaging, SAS Educate AP strengthened trust between SAS and the academic community.

Setting the Tone for the Year Ahead

Beyond its immediate learning outcomes, SAS Educate AP played an important symbolic role. It sets a collaborative and forward‑looking tone for the year, signalling SAS’s ongoing commitment to education, partnership, and innovation.

For educators, the event provided both inspiration and practical direction, reinforcing that they are not navigating shifts in analytics and AI education alone, but as part of a broader ecosystem supported by the SAS Global Academic Program.

In this way, SAS Educate AP functioned not only as an event, but as a catalyst for continued engagement, curriculum evolution, and meaningful collaboration between academia and industry across the Asia‑Pacific region.
