Hi:

I went into the Virtual Lab using the Launch Virtual Lab button (after my reservation was ready):

VL_in_AAP.png

And I see a SAS Studio icon on the desktop, as shown below:

PMLR_Virtual_Lab.png

You can see that I'm in the correct image because the PMLR51 folder is in the D:\Workshop location. The SAS Studio icon is near the bottom of the icons on the left side of the screen. You can tell you are in the Virtual Lab browser because the browser tab at the top says "SAS Education Gateway".

Maybe you were in a different image??

Hi,

if you are working in the Virtual Lab for the SAS Data Management Tools and Applications class in the Data Curation Professional module, there is a demo in Lesson 1 that uses SAS Studio as shown below:

dc_lesson1_demo.png

I have checked with the course instructors and I was told that students are intended to watch this demo. Students are NOT intended to repeat the same demo steps in the Virtual Lab. As you noted, there is not a SAS Studio icon in the Virtual Lab for you to use.

The main focus of the course is on understanding the use of the Data Management tools such as Data Integration Studio, DataFlux Data Management Studio and the SAS Quality Knowledge Base, not on running SAS/Access code. The intent of the demo was to illustrate how SAS/Access code can be used to access data in a consistent way, with code techniques. This demo is more of an overview. Then, in the subsequent lessons in the course, you will discover that the various SAS applications are able to leverage the SAS/Access technology to provide a consistent access method for accessing many data sources and different data formats.

The instructor, in the video, had a special configuration of software with the correct mix of SAS/Access products to run the code. This configuration was not made available to the students, since the code method is not the main focus of the course.

We've asked the e-learning team to put a note in the course that this demo is an instructor-only demo.

If you are NOT talking about THIS class and this demo, then we need to know the following information:

1) What level are you working in:

2) Title of class:

3) Lesson in class:

4) Title of Demo or Exercise:

5) Any error messages:

6) Description of problem:

Hope this helps,

Cynthia

Hi:

Thanks for the heads-up about this. I'll ask the support team for the Virtual Lab to investigate. An alternate way to start SAS Studio is to go to the Windows Start Menu (inside the SAS Education Gateway Virtual Lab window) and go to Start --> SAS --> SAS Studio.

And, typically on the browser bar, inside the Virtual Lab, there is usually a favorite for SAS Studio. We recommend using Google Chrome or Firefox with SAS Studio for the best experience.

  Hope this helps,

Cynthia
