I am curretly studying and exploring the SAS data Curation program. After coming across the Data Manipulation Software Applications namely SAS DATA Integration Studio and SAS DATA Managment Studio.

I was hoping to find the architectural difference and the functionalities compared of both the data manipulation giants.

Unfortenately, I haven't seen such mstrix/feature list comparison.

In short is DM a DQ tool with some ETL capabilities, DI is an ETL tool with some DQ capabilities.

DI executes mainly SAS programs, DM has it's own execution environment (not "SAS").

There is some level of integration between the two available.

Hi:

The class instructors compiled this quick list of features that they each do that the other doesn't do. They thought that might be useful. They were not aware of any marketing information for the type of comparison you want.

Things DM Studio/Server do that DI Studio doesn’t do:
Advanced survivorship types of activities
Interactive match reports
Provide editors for customizing the Quality Knowledge Base
Address verification/geocoding
Automatically/directly access ODBC data connections
Profiling reports
Ability to establish and apply business rules for data monitoring

Things DI Studio does that DM Studio/Server don’t do:
Fully integrate with SAS Metadata
Fully integrate with the SAS platform product stack
Change management
Slowly changing dimensions
Optimized in-database processing
Integrated processing in/with Hadoop
Automatically generate SAS code
Complex joins
Interact with data models

Hope this and the courses help put the products into perspective for you.
