Upon reviewing the Statistics case study one must create the data set which requires much cleaning of the data that was not part of the Statistics modules (ANOVA and Regression).  Is this process in other certifications/modules? Is this part of the Certification Exam 1(SAS Big Data Preparation, Statistics, and Visual Exploration)?

Hi:
Programming 1 is a prereq for Statistics 1. Statistics 1 is part of the module you are studying. The recommended prerequisites for the Big Data modules are shown here: https://www.sas.com/en_us/training/academy-data-science/big-data-certification.html -- look under the section entitled Prerequisite Skills. We recommend the skills covered in the Data Science Fast Track classes, which include Programming 1, Programming 2, SQL 1 and Macro Language 1 classes.

If you have other programming experience in a different language, then you might want to study Programming 1 to get familiar with how to write a SAS program to import and clean your data.

There is a review of the Statistics Case Study inside your Virtual Learning Environment in which one of the instructors reviews the DATA step program that you use to clean the data for the Case Study. The techniques used in that program come directly from the Programming 1 and Programming 2 courses.

If you are not familiar with Programming 1 and Programming 2 concepts, you might want to refer to the solution program in the Case Study review and look up the syntax elements that you are not comfortable with.

You can find the Content Guide for the first Big Data Exam here: https://www.sas.com/content/dam/SAS/en_us/doc/other1/certification/exam-content/big-data-exam1.pdf
