Hi All,

I need to update an excel file annually with numbers from outputs of Proc freq or proc tabulate. What I did in previous years was to update the numbers manually.  How can I update the excel file by sas code?

Attached please find my excel file.

Thank you very much for your help!

It seems to me a DDE task. DDE will grant you the flexibility , control and accuracy to put data elements into whatever excel cells. As long as your excel table not changing or changing but with codeable rules. This can't be told in a few sentences,  So go ahead do a search DDE sugi paper to get you started.

Edit: on the other hand, if it is only annual job, I wonder if it is really worth the effort, as DDE involves strenuous hard coding.

Hi Haikuo,

Thank you for your reply. I have figured out how to do it.

Thanks - Linlin
