Hi, we have SAs 9.4 M3 running on a Linux server - the desktop clients are SAS Studio and SAS Enterprise guide.
My question is: the user department creates (a great number) of pdfs, excel files, etc. They are used to creating a zip file on Windows and sending that to the client requesting data (who may or may not have SAS, by the way). Is there a way that the end users can continue to do this since they are not permitted access to the server other than through the SAS clients mentioned. Many thanks.
Given that your users have Enterprise Guide access, this gives them access to the tools they should need. Through EG, SAS can be programmed to send emails, and can execute system commands (via both the X and the %SYSEXEC commands). So in theory, that sounds like enough in the way of capabilities. You may need to organize the files that need to be sent, you may need to write a macro, but overall this sounds possible.
Good news: We've extended SAS Hackathon registration until Sept. 12, so you still have time to be part of our biggest event yet – our five-year anniversary!
