creating text report with very long strings

I am generating a report using file statement and put statement. The report has two variables an ID and TEXT fields. The TEXT field can be from 6 to almost 7,000 characters long. I would like TEXT to be on one line and currently there is a line return at 256. What is the best way around this using file and put statements?

Figured it out. I needed to add a "lrecl = 6842" to my file statement.
