Has any one successfully used ORHINTS option in PROC SQL using LIBNAME access method? The SAS documentation is frustratingly short on this. The use is shown for a data step (proc print) but no example or caution even, to note if this feature would work with PROC SQL.

This question is very specific to DBMS access and not ODS or base reporting. If you have difficulties, you should contact Tech Support.

My only success with passing Hints to the Oracle SQL engine came with using SQL Passthrough.

However, my friend Dianne Rhodes has a great deal of experience and success with working with RDBMS and wrote on this topic in her paper 239 at this year's SAS Global Forum. The SAS site and Lex Jansen's site both publish the proceedings of the conference.

Kind regards
