Are there any routines for outputting native Excel files yet? I'm running SAS 64 bit. Currently I'm using

ods markup tagset=ExcelXP file="File.xls";

to send procedure output to an XML file. Is there a way to actually create a native xls and/or xlsx file from SAS?

The ODS Excel destination is planned for SAS 9.4M3 which will generate native Excel files. It is there pre-production beginning with SAS 9.4M1.

Any comments on how it works in 9.4M1 (or M2)? Is it worth upgrading from 9.4M0?
