hi:

You did not say how you were creating ODS output. Are you using ODS HTML? Are you using ODS MSOFFICE2K or ODS TAGSETS.MSOFFICE2K_X???

ODS TAGSETS.MSOFFICE2K_X is an HTML-based destination that does have a suboption to freeze column headers and row headers. The suboptions are: FROZEN_HEADERS and FROZEN_ROWHEADERS. But they will ONLY work with ODS TAGSETS.MSOFFICE2K_X or TAGSETS.EXCELXP. They will NOT work with ODS HTML.

For more information about the destination and usage of suboptions, see this web site:

http://support.sas.com/rnd/base/ods/odsmarkup/msoffice2k/index.html#Display There are a lot of code examples in the Tech Support topic.

Hi:

You do NOT need PROC TEMPLATE, if you want to create an HTML file that Excel can open and show you frozen headers. ODS MSOFFICE2K_X destination -is- an HTML-based destination. It has suboptions, as demonstrated on this site

http://support.sas.com/rnd/base/ods/odsmarkup/msoffice2k/index.html#Display

which allow you to freeze column headers (your AA, BB, CC, etc) and freeze row headers (your A B C D, etc.).

The above site has sample code. You do not need to name your file as .XLS, you can use .HTML. This assumes that you want to open your file in Excel.

If, however, you mean that you need to embed Javascript or other scripting commands to freeze headers in a browser, then you might want to open a track with Tech Support, if this lengthy note (with code) doesn't contain enough direction:
