want to concatenate above two values with .

 

below doesn't Work, but to show what I am intending to do

%unquote(%str(%')cat(&a,.,&b)%str(%'))

 

to get end result with quotes  'abc.xyz'

Your objective seems too simple if i understand correctly

%let want=%bquote('&a..&b');

%put &=want;
