I'm not sure quite what you mean by "side scrolling" but it may mean delving in the Logitech Setpoint settings for your mouse. If you don't recognize that program name then you are likely dealing with default mouse drivers that may not enable all of the features of your mouse. Which would mean time to visit the Logitech site and download the latest version of the driver and configure your mouse with that program.
I use a Logitech trackball and have to go through this every computer upgrade as the MS drivers won't enable the extra buttons.
