SAS university edition column error

when I code to generate data from my folders , there is error stating the file does not have column, how to curb this problem ?

Show the code and the error message. Copy both the code and messages from the LOG, paste the text into a code box opened on the forum using the {I} or "running man" icon to preserve formatting of log text. Some of the error messages provide diagnostic elements that the main message windows will reformat the text so that the diagnostics are not helpful.

If by "file" you mean data set then you should be mentioning "variable" not column to be more in line with SAS-speak.
