Welcome to the SAS Community 🙂

You have to be a bit more specific than this. What have you tried? What went wrong? Show us your code please?

Hello draycut,

Working with SAS enterprise guide and using an external file which is opened in the project tree. When I go to the describe tab to view the data character, I get this error “value cannot be null, parameter name: server name cannot be null. Did I save the file wrong?

Is the "external file"a sas dataset? If not, you need to import it, before you can use it.
