How to remove hidden characters (small stx) from string

I would like to remove this symbol  from my string but not able to.

Tried multiple ways

When I copy to SAS it shows very small diagonal stx word.

Can COMPRESS with a 'c' modifier offer some luck?

Like   

new_variable=compress(variable,,'c');

Remove or replace with a blank? For remove compress with the c option as already proposed should do the job.
