We do a lot of exporting of SAS datasets to Excel and Access. Suddenly, 2 of us in the office are getting:

ERROR: Connect: 
ERROR: Error in the LIBNAME statement.

messages when we try to export. Both the export wizard and proc export generate the errors. And the Libname is correct because just last week I was able to export a file from the same lib.

When my colleague had the problem it was on a new PC so I simply deleted her profile and when she logged in and recreated her profile she was able to export. But only for a week or so then the problem returned.

We're all running v9.1.3 on XP with the latest patches/SP.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Could you be getting either of these errors:

ERROR: Connect: The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file ''. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.
ERROR: Error in the LIBNAME statement.

ERROR: Connect: Unable to IDBInitialize
ERROR: Error in the LIBNAME statement.
