SAS 9.4 add-in for Microsoft Office causes lag in excel

Ever since I upgraded SAS to version 9.4, the Microsoft Office Add-in (8.1 Update 1 (8.1.1.3263)) has caused significant lag in excel (2-3 seconds for every command). This never happened with the 9.3 version. I tried this on 2 separate computers (Window 8 64 bit, Office 2013) and it was the same. Is there any way to fix this?

There are a few SAS notes about this type of problem but I can't see one for 8.1. You would be best off progressing this with SAS Tech Support.
