Broken SAS Web Parts for SharePoint version 5.1

After the M2 maintenance upgrade was applied to our SAS servers, the web parts for sharepoint (specifically the BI Dashboards) quit working i.e. the frame loads but there is a complaint about "not being able to establish a session id with the metadata server". Are there any suggestions on how to fix them that do not include re-deploying them altogether?  Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Something to note: The Stored Process web part does work.
