How to build interactive experimental design for sas simulation from base sas??

Hi,

I am using sas simualtion studio in batch mode and i would like to know how to change the experimental design (eg. number of replications) from base sas. In this way its more convenient to build interactive models.

The experiment window in Simulation Studio can be saved as a SAS data set.  Once you save the experiment window contents, you can edit that data set using SAS and then read it back into your simulation project by right-clicking on the experiment window and selecting the Load Design option.  It is important to note that the original SAS data set must be created by right-clicking in the Sim Studio experiment window and selecting the Save Design option.  (If you try to load a SAS data set that was not first created from a Sim Studio experiment window, then you will get an error because SIm Studio does not know which columns are factors, responses, etc.)  

Once you save your project with the updated experiment file loaded, then you can run in batch mode.

So this approach is not completely automatable since you have to load the new experiment file using the GUI.

If that is the case, there is another option, but it is not documented and therefore tech support can't help if you run into a problem.   You can edit the experiment file directly , using the current experiment file as a template (be sure to create a back up).  The format of the experiment xml file is pretty straightforward and you can easily add in the column values for a design point.  Once you edit and save a new experiment file, you can point to it in your batch run command.  

If you open your project in Simulation Studio, you won't see your new experiment since it is not part of the project.  But you can open the new experiement file separately and once you save your project, it will be there the next time you open it.
