I’m very new to SAS maps and wanted to create state level
not the country wise map for north America , so I put some format state wise color
coding on some logic.

Looking forward you expert advise.

So, you would like your maps to show 1 state, rather than the whole country, right?

What type of data do you have at the state level? Do you want to shade counties, zipcodes, or census blocks based on your data? Or would you like to place colored markers on the map at city or zipcode centers?  Or maybe you have street addresses, and you'd like to place the markers there?

I need to create a heat map at state level.... lets say I have run the promotion on few states and wanted to highlight the strong and week states. But the problem is that in MAP lib of SAS I don't have state level longitude and latitude info.

So i'm looking for some data points which I can use.

Thanks Robert...

Hmm ... I'm still not sure what you're wanting to do.  Can you provide an example of a map similar to what you're wanting to create? (mybe use a Google search to find one).

Whereas maps.us only has projected x/y, maps.states also has unprojected lat/long (but I'm not sure you need those, based on the map it sounds like you're trying to create).

Also, here is a tutorial I have written about the basics of SAS/Graph mapping ... it would probably be useful for you to look this over:
