ERROR: Could not restore template. Input buffer is corrupt, or some other problem has occurred.

When I run my program 9.2 all good.  When I switch to 9.3 I get the message.  This is regarding a STYLE template specified on ODS RTF statement.

It then goes on to say that the style template cannot be found.

WARNING: Style 'template name'  not found; Rtf style will be used instead.

The style templates are not mine they are provided by SAS experts with knowledge and control of that type of thing.  I don't know if there is incompatibility between the versions of SAS and the catalogs or not.

I did find one usage note but I don't think it applies http://support.sas.com/kb/15/071.html

I will continue to look for the problem but if anyone knows what's going on let me know.

I think there can be issues reading previous version template stores. To get around this, I would "source" the style template in SAS 9.2, then re-submit the style code in 9.3.

run;
proc template;
  source styles.listing;
run;
proc printto; run;

Be sure to clean up the extra log stuff in the file before submitting it in 9.3.

Thanks that's a good idea.  You may want to use the

FILE= 'file-specification' | fileref

option on the SOURCE statement instead of PROC PRINTTO makes it much easier to manage the output.

I experienced the same problem. Apparently itemstor created in 9.2 cannot be read by 9.3. With the assistance of SAS tech support I was able to recover the source code for the itemstor and then recreate the itemstor in 9.3. This was a huge pain since I had created many templates using ODS Graphics Designer.

Hopefully you are not running 9.2 and 9.3 simultaneously. If you still have both versions then you have to be careful on where you assign the SASUSER folder. They cannot both point to the same location.
