Hi All

We are currently setting up users for SAS AML and we received a requirement form the client where there needs to be a maker and checker. To explain this further, from a scenario perspective, there must be a person that has the ability to make changes to the parameters in the UI but not active the scenario. Then the Checker must be able to view the changes and then only activate the scenarios.

Is there anyone that has catered for this, in other projects. Can we build a custom user to fulfil the maker and checker functionality.

I think the first thing the community will need to know is which version of SAS AML are you using?

SAS AML 7.1 does not support configurable workflow functionality and is not shipped with a workflow design tool like AML 6 (SAS Workflow Studio) or AML 8 (SaS Visual Investigator Workflow). AML 7.1 comes with very limited workflow functionality (if any) in terms of pre-configured statuses for case investigation and regulatory report validation. There is no option to make changes to these pre-configured functions, above and beyond changing the labels of the status dropdown options. AML 7.1 does not support the creation of a (custom) maker checker workflow. Our recommendation is for the customer to upgrade to SAS AML8.3, which will be released in January 2022 and which comes with pre-defined workflow that can be fully reconfigured and the ability to create additional workflows from scratch.

... to add, status changes are linked to certain roles, which allow you to a limited differentiate between maker and checker privileges, by allocating role/group membership to users and allocating capabilities to roles in SAS Management Console.
