Hello All,
I need to read a external file dynamically without using the File Reader Transformation in SAS DI Studio. Instead of File reader I need to write one USER WRITTEN TRANSFORM which should read the extern file (remember that the structure of the external file is not same as user might select any of the extern files).
The requirement is somethig like this
1) User will drag any one of the external metadata file
2) User will connect file to User Written Transfomation
3) Run the Job
And also as per requirement cannot use User Written Code .
I tried to find the other ways but didn't get any solution for this ...
Someone pls help me on this.
Thanks and Regards,
Nagaraj
First question: why?
Why can't you use the standard File Reader?
What is the "real" requirement?
Are there any limits on what kind of files that can be used? Sounds like you are about to build an even more dynamic interface than the existing ones. It can surely be done, by some extensive macro programming. But the UI will probably not be as neat as the corresponding Java transformations.
Exactly even I don't no the reason but this what our business wants. and there are no any such limits on type of files (most of them we used to have csv files).
It would be easier to understand if we know the business case.
As a general recommendation: don't go there...
Use supplied transformation where it's feasible.
Create User Written Transformations for specific (and common) file types that is not supported with standard transforms.
For odd/seldom used file types, use User Written Code.
